About Baxter Risk Consulting
Since being incorporated in October 1999, Baxter Risk Consulting (BCL) has provided loss control engineering and risk management services to the insurance industry, engineering consulting companies and private industry.
With over 33 years of field engineering and risk management experience, Steve Baxter has spent the last 19 years as an independent consultant and previously working for industrial property insurers in various loss control engineering and risk management capacities.
In addition to previous formal risk management training, Steve Baxter has also completed formal training in Enterprise Risk Management and with work experience over the years in this area, is now offering consultation services. IT software and hardware loss control experience has been developed over the past 30 years and more recently formal cyber risk training has been completed to help clients with these modern business exposures.
Work experience prior to 1999 includes over 10 years of service with Kemper Insurance holding positions of Fire Protection Consultant (FPC), Senior FPC, Engineering Supervisor, Account Loss Prevention Consultant and most recently Account Executive - HPR Specialist. Work experience prior to Kemper, includes over 3 years with Factory Mutual Engineering in Toronto as a property loss control consultant.
As indicated in the "Services" section, Steve Baxter has extensive property experience in most types of heavy industry such as pulp and paper, steel mills, chemical and petrochemical, tire and rubber manufacturing, food processing, plastics manufacturing, mining and mineral processing, sawmills, woodworking, warehousing and most heavy industries. He also has extensive experience with large commercial properties such as shopping malls and high-rises as well as institutional facilities such as universities and hospitals.
Previous account engineering work involved both domestic accounts and international accounts with locations throughout the world. Property account engineering would involve overseeing all locations of an insured account to make sure proper field servicing and reporting are being maintained and that consistency in servicing and QC are also provided across the account with respect to loss control engineering and property risk management.
Formal machinery breakdown (B&M) training was completed with Kemper. Also had loss control training for general liability (premises and products), fleet and inland marine lines with extensive work experience over the last 20 years on all these lines.
Because of the extensive and varied work experience and training, BCL is able to provide training to junior engineers on various types of loss control and risk management for those companies that are not able to do in-house loss control training.
